Solid-wall damp is the routine finding, alongside roof and chimney wear on exposed Pennine-edge rows. Terraces altered over a century — cellars converted, rear extensions added, openings knocked through — need their alteration history read carefully rather than assumed.

This is Level 3 territory as the rule rather than the exception — the overwhelming majority of the stock is pre-1919, solid-walled and altered.
